January 1, 2012

Good morning,

I've been approached a few times about my blogging. Yes, I know I suck at keeping it updated. I'll spend a few days catching it up. I downloaded the Blogger app to my phone, so hopefully it will make this task easier for me.

The Boys:

In the past year McKayle has had an exciting year. He and his dance group, MIA, performed over 30 times and won $2,500.00 in a talent contest. They were asked to audition for America's Got Talent.

Brevin has had a great year. He got a job at Hacienda, he's in the top 10% of his class and he just got a tattoo. Such a brave fella.

Tiernon attended Career school this year and spent half of his day at the high school. It's hard to believe he will be a freshman next year. He can't wait to get a job.

This is Rylee's last year in elementary school. He attended International school this year. He is learning Spanish.

As for me, I'm still plugging away. Aside from pledging to blog often (fingers crossed). My goals this year are to 1. Learn a trade. 2. Invest More. 3. Live Simplistically.

I've started #1. I've enrolled in upholstery school. I will post my progress.

Thanks for listening- have a great New Year's Day.

It's Fall....

Well, time flies when we're having fun!!!  Finishing up Baseball, loving football, and enjoying band.  Tiernon played Fall Baseball this year.  Our family loves some baseball, but Babe Ruth is BORING...I equate it with watching grass grow.  I hope, if he decides to play HS ball, it is more interesting.  Tiernon also talked us into letting him play MS Football.  I was against it because of his size, but he and Reggie talked me into it.

The first play of the first game, he got hit so hard he spent a few minutes on the ground.  I had a eerie feeling when I saw the corn fed boys come onto the field.  Later, I found out the other team didn't have enough 7th graders, so they added a few 8th graders (explaining their size).  We lost, but I think it should have been a draw, considering the unevenness of the teams.

Tiernon did make the newspaper.

Mom and Dad even had team spirit!!!

Today, Rylee won his division game, so tomorrow he will be heading to the championship game.  I'm excited to get to see it.  I got a few pics of him at his last game.

McKayle is doing well in band...they did the Fair circuit this year.  They placed 9th in the State Fair, which was cool.  Today is their last competition of the year.  It is in Franklin.  I got a few good pic of him.

Brevin participated in Homecoming week at school (which surprised us).  One day was nerd day...hahaha, I know.  But he did a good job of dressing up.

We even took a stab at decorating the front door for fall.  I looked and looked for a wreath, but nothing tickled my fancy.  So, I went on a hunt at JoAnne Fabrics....this is what I put together.

So that where we are in life.  The first nine weeks will be ending soon, and Reggie and I are going on a few get-a-ways in the near future, and we can't forget about our annual weekend Fall Break trip.  I always seem to blog about that.  Welp, see ya later alligator!!!

Pey-Back Classic

The boys got a once in a life time experience last night.  While many kids got to go to the Classic, they were in Upper Level Boxed seats. I didn't get any focused pics of our suite, but one of another suite came out clear.

I did get a few good shots of the boys enjoying the game in their seats.
McKayle was near the field playing with the band.

Being able to perform on the field will be a FOREVER memory.  I am so happy our band was able to experience this event.

It was nice to see Peyton at the game as well.  He wouldn't take an individual picture with us, but he allowed us to take an up close pic.  It was very cool.

And to top it all off.....WE WON!!!!!

Happy New Year!!!!

Whelp, we have one week under our belt of this New Year. For me, 2009 went out with a bang...that's for sure. I hate to dredge it up, so I'll let by-gones be by-gones. New Attitude!!!

I've come up with a few resolutions:
1. Have Less; Experience More.
2. Use PEEP (a place for everything and everything in its place)

Because my job is so hurry - wait...hurry - wait. I have a lot of time to do nothing. So, over the year, I've filled that time with shopping. Sometimes I just window shop, and other times I spend. At the end of the year I looked over my bank statements, just to see where my money has gone. You would not, could not, imagine the number of on-line transactions I have made.

Resolution #1. I realized I needed after reading and watching what the Happiest People on Earth do to stay happy....and above all, they renounce THINGS. This allows them to experience more without the need for things to hold them down or hold them back. Recently, Oprah had an episode where she visited Denmark. What a county. The people are amazing. Scandinavian living is something I could get use to. I love the architecture and the minimal living. The food looks scrumptious. I agree with their ways of looking at the world, the community and relationships. I wish our lawmakers would take a hard look at Denmark. I know taxes are high....but for a good reason. Ok, enough about Denmark....my point is they have less stuff and are seemingly more happy.

My second resolution is contingent on the first, I realize this. But with that in mind, it will be easier for me to accomplish goal #1. If it doesn't have a place, it GOES.

I'm looking for 2010 to be a year of personal growth. I am waiting with baited breath to see what 2010 has in store for me and mine.

See ya in a few days....we are going on VACATION....can't wait to post!!!

McKayle's First Prom

Early Novemeber McKayle went to his first prom.  Since I am on the School Board, I get invited also. It's always fun to go and see the kids I know so well.  Suprisingly enough, McKayle didn't mind me being there with him.  Rylee and Reggie were my dates.  Here are some pics.

His date's name is Jordan, she is just a friend. They are in the band together.

They had a blast dancing.  I tried to get Rylee and Reggie to dance, but they weren't having it.

This one cracks me up.  Just like Rylee.....sneaky!!!

They got me flowers....aren't they beautiful???

It was my witching hour...11pm is LATE to us old folk...lol

Halloween Trip

We embarked on our (now) annual trip to Carribean Cove in Indianapolis. It was quite the eye-opener for me. It's funny how events take place to put life into perspective.

We started out going to the Indianapolis Children's Museum. I hadn't been in a few years...my how things have changed. The older boys went out on their own...we found them on the floor playing with musical instruments with employees of the museum.

Not only was it a music lesson, but the brainiacs of the group (Brevin and Keagan) made it all about science.  I enjoyed listening to them talk and interact with the little boys.  The employees were quite impressed with their knowledge and interest in music.

Next, we headed to the hotel.  After a fun-filled day at the museum, everyone was hungry.  However, that didn't stop them from swimming a bit first.  While I ordered the pizza, they checked out the waterpark.  After dinner I was able to get some pics.

We were only able to stay one night this year. Trust me, it was a blessing in disguise.  I have full faith that next year will be more fun.  I think we may be going somewhere else, but the Halloween trip tradition will be carried on.  We do have a family vacation in April...we are going to Chicago.  But before that, Reggie and I are taking a trip to Las Vegas to get to know each other again.  Keep you posted...for sure.

A year in review...

Well, I can't believe it has been nearly a full year since I posted last. I could say I've been too busy...but that's a lie. I'm on this machine all day long. I look at blogs all day, I comment on them!!! I just haven't taken the time to update my own...I think I have my reasons, but they aren't good enough. (will explain a bit later)

I've taken lots of pictures this year...we got a new camera. Pictures will be posted soon. We just had prom, and our Annual Halloween trip...

In general, the year has been a roller coaster. But as the year closes, I think we are pulling it together. I've taken some time to give our page a "face-lift" just as we are doing to our lives. I hope to write more often.
